From Past to Present

If you’re interested in learning a little bit about Haiti’s history while on your visit, you can’t miss the Musee du Pantheon National Haïtien, Haiti’s National Museum. Located just a short walk from our Port-au-Prince hotel, the museum offers a brief but comprehensive introduction to Haitian history. You’ll see pre-colonial artifacts from the indigenous Taino people as well as antique items from the colonial era, such as the anchor from the Santa Maria. You’ll also have the chance to learn about the only successful slave revolution in the world, which took place on the island after the French revolution, and resulted in the creation of Haiti. Our advice is that you opt to take a guided tour of the museum, as the guides are very well informed, enthusiastic, and will complement the museum’s exhibition perfectly. Plan to have a delicious lunch at the museum’s restaurant, an all-glass structure surrounded by lush gardens and sweeping vistas of the hills surrounding Port-au-Prince.

  • “Oasis”

Located off the central town square it has good security and is the obvious expat place to stay. Nice garden breakfast area near a well received pool. Tranquil after the huddle and bustle outside. Rooms are clean, beds are very comfortable and the hot showers a blessing.

  • “Great Haitian atmosphere”

We really enjoyed this property. The staff was very friendly and even went out of their way to accommodate us, by letting us check in early after flying all night. The atmosphere was very laid back just as most Haitians are.
