This morning we received the following communication from the hotel manager.
Hello to all,
Thank you Chuck and my mom who have been managing the blog. I am managing Le Plaza and just wanted to confirm that we are all ok. We got internet working yesterday but phone lines are still not running well. Most of the original guests have left the hotel so should be getting back to you soon. All of our staff is accounted for although most of them have lost everything. We do have some cracks in the building but overall we are OK and operating. We were EXTREMELY lucky. We have blocked out all reservations until the end of February and as you were made aware, operating on a first come first serve basis (with a waiting list). We are operating with 12 hours of generator a day so communication is still not at its best.
I want to thank everyone who wrote to us and have done my best to pass along the messages. We will try to get back to you as soon as possible but are still operating in crisis management mode.
I will try to stay in contact as much as possible.
Thank you again
Agnes

Glad to hear everyone is doing reasonably well considering all that has occured. Just wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself as we have been trying to offer our accommodations to those providing relief aid – since day one. I understand you are full and have a waiting list. IF you would forward information – groups 8-12 looking for safe and secure accommodations providing all their meals and satellite communications… I am Captain Connor SV Out-N-Aboat who has been communicating with Chuck and Marc trying to coordinate a ride into Port-Au-Prince on our Catamaran.
Please see what accommodation we are offering to the relief effort at http://www.outnaboat.com
It only makes sense as we can moore just offshore providing the relief groups a safe and secure environment in which to eat, sleep, rest with AC, shower and communicate to their bases all within a few feet of Port-Au-Prince harbor. We are within a few days sailing of Haiti and simply need to know the details of the accommodation needed so we can provission for the relief group.
Our prayers and thoughts are with those in Haiti and P-au-P needing so much help…..

Please let Marraine (Evelyne Scott) know that we received her letter today and we are relieved that she is alive and well. Please tell her if she needs anything to email me.
We send her our love.
Very glad the hotel and your family survived the earthquake.
