By way of an extremely poor – and extremely brief – phone connection, we have news that the following members of the staff are SAFE:

In addition, we have learned that guests Mr. Vilmenay and Mr. Moiso are likewise well, and we have notified their families.

Thank you so very much for posting. We’ve stayed at Le Plaza 6 times over the past 1 1/2 years and so these guys feel like family to us. We were so worried about Agnes & all of the staff after we heard of the earthquake. What a relief to hear they are fine. My fondest memory is Vladimir explaining to us step by step how to make Haitian rice & beans for our son once he gets to Canada. He’s home now and its still his favorite. I am so happy that Vladimir and Jean-claude are well They are beautiful people and I always thik of them. I spent some time there last November and they were some of the kindest people I’ve met in my life.
Also the waiters in the breakfast room.
